General Information on
Kids and Youth Sizes
|
General
|
At Rocky Moto you'll see references
to "kid's" sizing or "youth" sizes. There is no difference in the two
terms. The following information is intended to sort things out on a
confusing subject. Most apparel product we show on our website
have the manufacturer's own sizing chart and we display that chart in
the photo gallery for that product. To be 100% sure of your sizes, take
a waist measurement for apparel . Also, if you need a helmet, follow the
helmet fitting instructions found in each helmet photo gallery. Below is
a "generic" sizing chart that works very well too.

It's Easy to Get the Size Right :
The most important aspect of sizing kids is getting the waist
measurement correct. Do this by measuring the kiddo around the
waist , about where jeans ride, with a cloth tape. If you measure
19" , get a 20" pant. If you measure 21" , get a 22" pant and use
the waist adjusters to snug the pants. The waist adjustment can only
reduce the waist size, not expand it. Also, keep in mind that
riding gear does not shrink as do jean and t-shirts. Youth jerseys come in
several size breaks and following the chart above, matching with know
waist sizes almost always works well. That same logic holds for gloves
too. If the manufacturer measures gloves using a number, that refers to
the circumference of the palm of the hand. Check the sizing chart in the
photo gallery to be sure. Fox and O'Neal also mark the kid's pants
with kids/youth sizes as well as the waist circumference in inches .
Here is the information as printed on the pants packaging.

Kids and Youth Sizes: Kids boots
come in full sizes. Most brands offered start at size 11 (itty
bitty) and proceed, 12, 13, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, up to size 6. You will
find a sizing chart, for boots in each photo gallery for boots. Your MX boot size should be your street shoe
size too, but if you fall between sizes, jump to the next higher
size. Most kids should ride in thick MX socks (we sell them)
to help avoid blisters and "take up the slack" in boots that may be 1/2
size too big. If you order boots a full size larger "to last
awhile", expect them to be large on your kids. Most manufacturers
jump to "adult" sizes (and prices) in the 6-8 range which many larger
kids will be wearing. The is no size difference in boots for little boys
compared to little girls.
